6 Months

April 30th, 2012

How time flies!  My little princess turned 6 months old yesterday.  Comparing her to a plant, it seems it was just yesterday when a seed was planted, made use of a compost tumbler, and after a dose of sunshine and watering, she has now started to bloom into a beautiful little flower.  Half way mark and soon she’ll be celebrating her first birthday.  I guess I’ll take this mark as my cue to start her first birthday party.  Excited.  Yes, very excited!  I’m one excited party planner mom.  I’ll make sure that we’ll throw her one majestic party that she deserves.  After all, she’s our little princess. Smile

How to Take Care of Common Cat Problems

April 30th, 2012

Cats are good at self-maintenance, but even a good feline can’t prevent some of the more common cat diseases and health issues.

If you are a pet owner to a cat, you should be aware of the different signs and symptoms that tell that you have cat problems. Any behavior that deviates from the usual attitude of your pet is a cause of alarm. Different ailments have different symptoms, though it may happen that your cat starts showing two or three symptoms together. Knowing how to decipher these symptoms and treat your cat accordingly will ensure a lasting and healthy relationship with your pet.

Cat Hairballs (hair balls, furballs or fur balls)

This usually happen if your pet swallows a lot hair while grooming herself (remember cats love to lick their fur). These hairs go into the stomach and form a growth, which the cat usually vomits out. If the vomiting has increased in frequency, take your pet to a vet immediately.

Fleas

Fleas are a very common health problem in pets.

Signs your cat has fleas include:

  • Flea dirt on their skin (they look like tiny black dots)
  • Constant scratching
  • Frequent licking
  • Red or irritated skin
  • Hair loss
  • Skin infections or hot spots

Fleas can live for more than a year, and your cat risks anemia if the problem becomes serious, so be sure to treat your cat’s flea problem and prevent future infestations.

Feline Lower Urinary Tract Diseases (FLUTD)

Female and male cats can get FLUTD, and it often occurs in cats that are overweight, unfit, or who eat dry food.

Stress, a multi-cat household, and sudden changes can all raise a cat’s risk of FLUTD, and treatment depends on the type of FLUTD your cat has. FLUTD symptoms include:

  • Straining to urinate
  • Bloody urine
  • Urinating in unusual places
  • Crying when urinating
  • Licking around the urinary area (often because of pain)
  • Depression
  • Dehydration
  • Lack of appetite
  • Vomiting

Cricket 4G Phones: The Best Gift For Teens

It’s no secret that cell phones make fantastic gifts for teenagers. After all, cell phones are more and more prevalent, not just among adults but also among the younger crowd. It’s important to give your teen some much-needed independence and privacy, and a private phone provides that. They’re able to talk to their friends, access their social networking sites, and most importantly, stay in touch with their parents. The question is, what phone is best for your teen? With Cricket to offer 4G LTE through Clearwire, the answer is pretty simple, however, you might want to know more about it before deciding for yourself.

Always Consider the Coverage
Your teen wants a phone that works anywhere at any time. Teens want full coverage to keep in touch with their friends at all times. When giving your teen a phone as a gift, you want full coverage so he or she is always available. Make sure you choose a service provider that offers coverage over wider areas. That way, you know your kid can always pick up the phone—especially when you’re calling!

Picking the Perfect Plan
There are many things to think about when choosing a particular plan for your teen. For example, a family plan might work best, especially if it doesn’t cost much to add another phone. If both parents and other teens in the family already have cell phones, a family plan is a fantastic option. However, if you’re going to pay for the phone, you might want to choose something with data limits. Kids use data mainly in the following ways:

  • out-of-network calls;
  • texting;
  • emailing;
  • sending photos;
  • social networking;
  • and recording and sharing videos.

You’ll have to decide if you want your teen to have limits or an unlimited data plan. If you intend for your child to pay for the phone instead, make sure you sit down to discuss viable options and smart decisions!

All the Bells and Whistles
Naturally, most teens want the latest and greatest phone, or at least a model that is compatible with all the most popular features, programs, and apps. If your teen wants fast streaming, speedy data transfer, and things of that nature, then go with a provider that makes those things possible. With Cricket to offer 4G LTE through Clearwire, for example, your teen would certainly be able to enjoy total ease of use. 4G LTE coverage is fast, it’s widespread, and easily allows teens to do all the things they want to do with a phone.
Cell phones do make excellent gifts for birthdays, graduations, and holidays. As a parent, you want to give your teen what he or she most desires but you also want an affordable plan and a provider with lots of coverage. Fortunately, by taking advantage of 4G LTE, you won’t have to compromise because you and your teen will both get what you want!
