New Hairdo at 38 Weeks
I’ve been meaning to have a haircut before Baby A arrives so that I won’t have a hard time managing my hair while taking care of a newborn (and so that the Mommy will glam in the very first mom-daughter pic in the Delivery Room..hehe!). Last night, the husband was able to finish work early and so he and Asher drove me to the nearby salon.
At 38 weeks, here’s how I look like…

From the looks of the “about to start” swelling nose and cheeks…it seems that the stork is about to land.
Ho-hummmm….
I can’t wait! I really can’t wait to start laboring, push and finally meet our precious little girl.

I can still remember the “heart melting” feeling when Asher first uttered the words “Mommy, wab yu!”. He couldn’t have enunciated clearly but the message, intent and sincere emotions were very clear. It was the best “music” I’ve ever heard that I felt I was literally over the moon because of so much happiness. I’m certain that every parent feel the same not only when their babies or kids say it the first time but every time they do so. Actions may speak louder, as they say, but nothing beats the gratification one feels whenever he or she hear the words “I love you” from a significant person.
I’m grateful that my son developed his speech accordingly to the right developmental phase. I have friends who have sons and daughters who are experiencing speech delay and I can sincerely feel their frustration. Of course, every parent wants their child grow and develop normally as one should. And although, they have come to accept it, it’s still a painful experience for them especially if they’re clueless on the right approach and the appropriate corrective solutions to be done for their kids. Due to numerous factors, it is greatly noticeable that kids having speech delays have grown significantly these days. That’s why an increase in demand to fill in Jobs for speech pathologists have also been observed these days. Babies and toddlers may develop at their own pace but the moment the parents feel bothered or if they feel something’s wrong, the best initial move is to consult their child’s doctor. The Pediatrician will refer the parents to a Developmental Specialists for a proper evaluation and a further referral if a Speech Therapist or Speech Pathologist is needed. These health experts are the parents’ aides so that their kid’s predicament gets addressed before it’s too late…and for the parents to also finally hear their child say “Mommy (or Daddy), I love you!”

Despite having a series of “down” moments, my weekend was overall great still. First, I had a nice time meeting up with friends last Friday at Greenbelt where we chatted non-stop over Chilis nachos, fajitas, burgers, pasta and sweets. It’s been a while since we had a get together and as it would be impossible for me to join them in the next few weeks after giving birth, it was truly a nice breather and sort of a “send off” gimik before I’ll be tied to a newborn. As always, we didn’t notice the time went by so quickly. We were so busy talking almost about everything — as if we’re not tweeting each other everyday. As my OB gave me the go signal already to begin heavy walking (so that Ashley will start descending), window shopping was what I did. Shopping would have been nicer though. Hehe.
Paul was able to have the car’s aircon fixed last Saturday. And the good thing is that the repair didn’t cost that much as we expected. Great!
I also had my checkup last Saturday and much to my and my doctor’s surprise, I gained 4 lbs in just one week! Finally. I’ve been under weighing so it’s not something to be worried about. In fact, I’m still a few pounds away from the required minimum average pregnancy weight gain. But the OB gave me a stern warning to watch out because if I continue to gain that much in the last remaining weeks (that is, if I don’t give birth soon yet), then it might be a problem. She is actually hoping that I go into labor soon and deliver early since the baby’s full term anyway. My cervix is still closed though and she’s still afloat so the doctor taught me how to stimulate contractions and reiterated that I walk and walk and walk. She also issued me an admission slip already. It could just be a matter of days (I also hope) but it could also technically take a couple of weeks (yikes!). I’ve been feeling extra heavier and it’s getting harder each day to move. So Baby Ashley, better start descending na, okay? Your Dad, Kuya and I are all excited to meet you!

It’s Monday once again. I’m still blogging so that means I’m still very much pregnant and heavy.
So how did your weekend go? Mine was great despite a few downs and misfortunes that momentarily made me crazy. First, after blogging that my laptop has been fixed, I spoke too soon because just a few minutes later, it died on me again. It’s a different case this time. I think there’s something wrong with the screen because it just suddenly turned white. We’ve tried shutting it down and restarting it but to no avail, the screen wouldn’t display right. It’s still running though as we hear the windows startup sounds and everything so it just might be the screen that needs to be fixed.
So right now, I’m back to using my backup (netbook) so I can still work. Again, thank you Lord for letting me win this netbook from a raffle promo of SM last year. Albeit I can’t work with a maximum efficiency since it doesn’t have all the necessary software I use in my laptop, I can still go on with my work. The only downside is that I can’t resume digiscrapping the remaining pages of my Pregnancy Photobook as well as start designing the holiday invitations that I intend to finish before I give birth.
Second “down”..I had my iPhone’s OS updated last Saturday night at Centris and the technician messed up and lost all my precious photos and videos stored. Before starting the reset, he assured me that all of my important files (except phone book contacts) will be backed up and saved. After waiting for more than an hour, he returned my phone fully restored with a new OS but all photos and videos gone. He said that apparently, it wasn’t backed up completely and in fact, he couldn’t locate the file folder where he saved them. I really wanted to cry at that instant because except for the photos that I uploaded to Instagram, I had no backup of them via iTunes (my laptop went bonkers earlier that day). What further pissed me off, the technician wasn’t even apologetic and acted as if I just ordinarily lost a one peso coin and that I can take pictures naman daw again with my phone. I really wanted to pull his hair and make him realize that all of those 1000+ photos (majority of which are of Asher) are priceless! I can’t rewind the time and retake those special moments. And yes, he still charged me in full. He said that he will just give me discount the next time I’ll avail his services. Niyek, as if there will be a next time. No way!
I try not to think in details and recall the photos that were lost so I won’t feel that bad anymore. Actually, I’m still blessed because I can recover most of them since posted Instagram photos can be downloaded. (Thanks to Kaje for sharing instaport.me.)

I’m bound to see my doctor later this afternoon for my 37th week prenatal checkup. Geez, I’m so excited to know the probability of finally meeting Ashley this coming week. My tummy’s so heavy now and so huge that I really find it hard to walk, stand for a long time, sleep. With a petite body such as mine, just imagine how is it like to carry a huge watermelon in your tummy every second of the day. Not complaining, though. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to miss Ashley’s rigorous kicks and movements inside my tummy when she gets out.
Speaking of my doctor, I’m really happy to have her around. I can sincerely feel her genuine care for me as her patient. She’s actually a bit old so it’s just like feeling a motherly love, too, every time she asks me for any complaints or worries that I may have about my pregnancy or when she gives me reminders about what-nots and what must I do to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy. She’s really the kind of OB-gyne every woman would like to have.
I’m sure that the patients of Jennifer Lee MD will also say the same. After all, she won’t be one of the topnotch doctors whose profile is among the well searched and sought after in the Doximity network. Doximity is an online exclusive, private network of US physicians through which they can communicate and reach out among each other for referrals or any other medical-related concerns.
