At 11 Weeks
Just 3 weeks to go (technically, just 2 weeks since I’m 11 weeks 4 days as of posting time) and we say hello to my second trimester. I can’t wait for those weeks when it’ll be a lot easier and comfortable. So here’s baby Flickr’s development at 11 weeks according to babycenter.com:
Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She’s already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won’t feel your baby’s acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.
I’m happy to note that I’ve already been feeling less nauseous since last week. I still feel the urge to throw up once it’s a while but I can control it and usually, the gag feeling surfaces every time I drink my Anmum chocolate drink at night. So right now, I don’t pressure myself drinking it everyday since I have my folic meds anyway. Further, my taste buds still taste weird after eating so that’s the only major discomfort that I have right now.
I think, I also felt the first movements of baby Flickr already. Babycenter.com says that for non-first time moms, first movements will be felt a little bit earlier. It was just actually a faint fluttering feeling but it was divine! Can’t wait to feel more movements and kicks in the next few months.
For the past three weeks, my cravings include siomai, burger (preferably with lettuce or coleslaw), palabok, ginataang bilo-bilo or monggo, halo-halo. Unlike my pregnancy with Asher, I’m more voracious this time and can practically eat anything. My tummy’s beginning to bulge a little but it’s not that prominent yet. My pants though are a little too tight now because of my widened hips.

Every Pregnant Moms Should Know
I’m really thankful to have stumbled upon the very informative site of babycenter.com. Ever since I signed up, I’m learning so much about everything that I need to know about pregnancy. It’s like a motherhood Bible that every pregnant moms should read so they’d be guided throughout the rollercoaster pregnancy ride. I’ve read one article that lists down the things to avoid and take precaution like taking in specific type of drugs. One of these is the Topamax which is usually prescribed for epileptic seizures and migraine headaches. Studies show that there are certain serious birth defects that were caused by Topamax like cleft palate or cleft lip. This is the reason why Topamax lawsuit has been served in the past years against the manufacturers of the said drug. Yayie has been claiming that my second baby will be a “she”. She says she’s pretty sure basing on my cravings lately that have got to do with foods that are sliced or have slices in them: pizza, footlong, burgers. Of course, this is just among the hundreds of pregnancy myths that the elders believe. There’s really no connection or scientific basis but I think this comes more of a prayer from Yayie. Haha! She joked that if it’s going to be another boy (at kasing likot ni Asher), she’ll pack her bags and go home na to the province. LOL.

Many of us have surely started our Lenten sacrifices already. I know of friends who gave up things like soda, pork, TV, Facebook, Twitter, shopping and other stuff that are parts of their day-to-day lives and are seemingly hard to give up. Then I know of someone who finally agreed to undergo an alcohol detox not just in observance of Lent but for good. This is actually great not only that his addiction will be curtailed but more importantly, his health won’t be compromised anymore.
Last year, I had online detox for three days during the Holy Week. I’m offering a different sacrifice this year and it doesn’t only last during the Lenten season. I’ve started it since the beginning of this year and hopefully, I’ll be able to do it through the year end.
Angry Birds Rio
If I’ve been unusually quite online these past few days, it is because of this:
I’ve been hooked with Angry Birds Rio! Actually, I’ve finished both of the available levels already and can’t wait for the next release (May 2011). For the mean time, I’m going through all the games again, aiming to get all the stars, the golden pineapples and golden bananas. As of posting time, I’ve already garnered all golden pineapples as well as I’m just 6 stars away from completing Smugglers’ Den. Jungle Escape is up next. However, I just downloaded the newest Angry Birds Seasons (Easter edition) so here comes a whole new addiction!
