Business Opportunity.
We just barely entered 2009 and it seems my online biz isn’t starting good. This spells trouble and that means I have to double my effort in finding alternative ways to revive it or look for other means to earn on the side while I’m at home taking care of the little one. If only we can control everything but then again, in business, we have to deal with every uncontrollable factors that come our way. That is why it’s a must to keep oneself armed with the right business skills, attitude and know how to survive each and every undertaking and endeavor one has in business.
So aside from studying and thinking of strategies to uplift the status of my own biz, I’m now also carefully considering a friend’s franchise opportunity offering. She recently ventured into a food cart franchise business and in a span of just six months, she recovered her Return of Investment so fast that she’s thinking of adding another franchise unit. She’s likewise offering it to me and persuading me to try. She says, startup and logistics wise, starting a business is easier when franchising. I haven’t said yes yet although I’m almost convinced to try because I’d like to delve into franchising studies first to be confident that the capital I’d invest is well secured. I started doing my research and I recently stumbled upon a very resourceful site about franchises. If you’d like to know more about franchising and franchise opportunities in UK, Franchise Gator is the site to visit. In there, you’ll be linked to a lot of resources and even business opportunities that you can easily embark on. Depending on your capital, your preferred industry and even your workstyle, using their Franchise Selector enables you to determine the appropriate business opportunity for you. Further, information and advice abound in there to help and guide you in your preferred franchised business.

Aside from the 15th & 30th paychecks & bonuses, one of the things I miss about having a full time work for a company are the perks and special benefits that comes along with the compensation package. Most common benefits include paid leaves, medical and life insurances, housing and car loans, and allowances on representation, communication and transportation expenses. Usually they allot these allowances through reimbursement where the employee have to present well accounted business-related receipts and will be paid in accordance to the entitled limit. While this is the usual mode especially for the gasoline allowance, some company offer special vehicle reimbursement programs through a third party fleet to provide assistance on its administration.
Corporate Reimbursement Services, Inc. (CRS) specializes in managing a company’s Vehicle reimbursement program for its mobile employees. They conduct reimbursement schedule analysis, motor vehicle records checking, driver safety training, and consulting services on employee mobility. They even have this web-based tool that logs, monitors and evaluates the business mileage of a mobile employee. The company will benefit huge on this e-logs because some employees tend to abuse their transpo benefit by presenting non-business related receipts for reimbursement just so to avail the gasoline allowance. Some companies don’t have the manpower or if they have, they don’t diligently check and account each receipt thereby incurring more expense for the company. Now this is one effective tool that a company should undertake to reduce liability and risk and to have a better cost management as well.

If you are an entrepreneur who has just started your own small business, one of the most effective strategy of enhancing it in this era of new technology is through E-Commerce. E-Commerce or Electronic Commerce simply means using the Internet to do business better, easier and faster. It is the paperless exchange of business information using e-mail, electronic bulletin boards, fax transmissions, electronic funds transfer, etc. It also pertains to online shopping, online marketing and other business-to-business transactions. It is also about engaging your company to a serious online effort and making your business communicated to people through it. A website is a venue to embody your marketing strategy and attract customers. This is the reason why your business website should be striking and well-maintained. Your website should be entrusted to a professional and reputable technology company if you don’t have the technological know-how on these things.
There are various web development entities out there and it’s kinda tough which among them to trust especially if you’re not an internet savvy or is not much into internet. So the best way to determine and choose the name to depend on is to check out testimonials from web hosting site reviews and rankings presented as that of INC 500 by Inc Magazine (a monthly magazine for entrepreneurs and small businesses based in New York City that publishes an annual list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.). Among the top web hosting company they awarded is the Heritage Web Solutions, ranking 22nd among the entire INC 500. With a client base of over 30,000 worldwide, they come and serve with the experience and strong background in various web development tasks. They offer your business first-rate custom fit web designs and a total technology package that assures your e-commerce business will stand out. Access to custom flash graphics, E-commerce valuable assistance, database creation and management and traffic driving resources are all provided so what more can you ask for.

If I am into Parenting Magazines lately, subscribing to almost all that are locally available, hubby, on the other hand, is currently hooked on collecting the Entrepreneur Magazine (so long FHM..lolz). Although he has a full time job and his salary as an IT Professional is more than enough to support our little family, one of his long time plans is to start his own business. One that he can call his own; and one that he dreams of making it big in the future in which he’ll be called the Boss who’s handing out the paychecks to his employees.
Franchising is one of the options that we have in mind. For a starter, a turnkey business such as that of franchising would be beneficial since there would be no “business and brand” to build from a scratch. From site selection to lease negotiation, training, mentoring and support as well as statutory requirements and troubleshooting, almost everything’s covered on a startup. The latest issue of Entrepreneur is so informative and provides lots of resources about Franchising. There are lots of business opportunities out there but we find those “food carts and kiosks businesses” suitable and doable based on the budget that we can shell out for the mean time such as Waffle House or Arabian Nights Shawarma (both for as low as Php 75T) and Dimsum Corner (for as low as Php 60T) from Asia Pacific & Global Franchise Company. Then there’s also E-Concept Business Consultancy’s Rice Topping Express, Hong Kong Noodle Factory, House of Siomai food cart businesses for as low as Php 50T. Then there’s also Ferino’s Bibingka (i love bibingka!) but no further financial figures are provided so I’m not familiar how much is the rough estimate for its franchise fee. Fruitas, Binalot and Fiorgelato would also definitely make good businesses and yield big profits because of their established and renowned brands. If only we have much capital, personally, I’m thinking of franchising a coffee company since many Pinoys are coffee lovers. Or if I am just equipped with the right knowledge, I could even start my own coffee shop business. The country has a stable and good supply of bulk coffee beans so raw materials would not be too costly. I think Amadeo, Cavite (known as the Coffee Capital of the Philippines) has vast suppliers who offer wholesale coffee beans. Just a negotiation for a discount bulk coffee plus a well-prepared business plan would jumpstart a beamy coffee business.
And oh, by the way, TradeCon’s The 7th Filipino Franchise Show 2008 will be held on September 19-21 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
