The Biggest Birthday Surprise.

April 27th, 2010

Four days have passed and yet I still can’t get over the romantic reunion I’ve witnessed last Friday.  My dear friend, Kathy, celebrated her 29th birthday and I bet it was one, if not the most, memorable birthday she ever had.  Without a hint, her OFW husband surprised her with the biggest gift of all.  Himself..fresh from the airport.

To begin with, I feel honored and pleased to have been part of this big surprise initiated by her mischievous husband who was still at KSA when he sought our help.  Albeit tough, the brainstorming session with my fellow connivers and with the OFW husband was fun.  It involved a very long email thread and endless (and careful) yahoo chat messages.  Even when we were still planning, I was already teary-eyed and so excited.  I knew that it will be an emotional reunion.  Truly, it really was.  And I’m just glad that I was able to capture the precious moments via my camphone.  The emotions and reactions were truly priceless.  Our adlib and acting efforts were effective (as effective as the best acne pill there is).  We’re just so glad that the big birthday surprise was a success.  And no doubt, Kathy and Amiel were the happiest at that moment.

Just a preview of where and whom I was with today.

Just stay tuned for my blog kwento about it. I cannot promise when will I be able to make that because tomorrow will be an equally busy day for me and the husband.

And yes, aside from the no work holiday (buti naman..I thought there will be an exemption again eh) on Monday, hubby’s on leave tomorrow so it’ll be a 4-day long holiday for us. Yipee!

Our Holiday Fun at ActiveFun.

September 1st, 2009

Yesterday, together with a group of fellow Mommy bloggers (Thea, Joy, Jody and Toni), we were invited to experience firsthand the newly-opened branch of ActiveFun at SM City North Edsa The Annex. Actually, it’s more of an invitation to our kids since ActiveFun is a play and party center where they can explore while having fun in the huge play area.

What I love about this indoor playground is that it has a complete play facility for kids and babies alike. Since my 18 month old son is too small yet for the Main Play Frame where the gigantic slide, trampoline, and multi level maze of bridges and planks, etc. are, he and his Daddy, who accompanied him inside enjoyed the Soft Play Area.

They first tried the big tub of balls.

Then they spent more time in the wide area where Asher enjoyed the soft wooden blocks, transferring two blocks each time from the floor to the sofa cushion.

He also loved stepping and crawling on the big floor piano that lights up and plays a sound when stepped on.

Unfortunately, Asher’s play time was halted because of an unexpected visitor. Talk about bad timing. The husband panicked because the stinky smell from his diaper is spreading out so fast and strong.

Do not disturb moment. Daddy rubbing Asher’s tummy.

They were supposed to come back after he was washed up and nappy changed but this came to Asher’s view to his fright.

He refused to come inside the play area because, as usual, he’s afraid to get closer to Nep, ActiveFun’s mascot. All throughout, we were just by the Lounge playing hand signals with Nep from afar.

As usual, he makes kwento what Nep (and Jollibee and all other mascots) did daw to him. He strangled him daw that’s why he’s scared of him.

Afterwards, we had some snacks and refreshments: hotdog sandwich for the kids and nachos and shawarma type of bread for the adults while the mommies made chika-chika. As usual, Asher tired his Daddy and me running after his uber likot self. Nevertheless, we enjoyed and we all had fun at ActiveFun…what a great way to spend the holiday.

Here’s the group picture together with our kids and Apple, the manager, who was so generous and accommodating to us.

Birds are one of the latest fascinations of Asher. He automatically searches for these maya birds in our street corner every time we send off his Daddy for work. As we walk back home, we pause for a moment in front of one of the houses nearby where birds flock over scattered cooked rice to feed themselves.

Ask Asher what does birds say..he answers, “titit titit” in a high pitched tone.

And yes, he also flaps his hands on his side when you ask how do they fly.

Smart kiddo.

*********

Online, I also hear lots of “titit titits” {tweet tweets} on my Twitterfox, too. I think I have mentioned several times how my twittermates are so chatty. That’s a given fact already so the succeeding topic will not be about them.

Let’s talk about the celebrities that I follow. I don’t follow much international stars so my twitter is mostly filled with local celebs’ tweets. Here are some of them:

1. Alessandra da Rossi - reading her tweets never fail to amuse me. She tweets like her “baklang” self just like when she’s on TV. Her twitpics with her beautiful family and Tayong Dalawa co-stars especially Coco Martin is something to be delighted about.

2. Camille Prats - she usually tweets about her wedding preparations with her besties (she’ll have 3 maids of honor, by the way) and where she and her hubby or other family members are doing together..like grocery shopping, check up in the hospital, etc. Next week she’s having her wisdom tooth extracted.

3. The Magalona Family (Mom Pia, Maxene, Saab) - All are super active twitters. Save for their own hectic schedules, you would think that they don’t converse offline anymore. LOL. But seriously, you’d feel you’re one of the Magalona’s too when they *talk* over at twitter.

4. Pia Guanio - Tweets mostly about her fascination on tennis. She also gives a hint or clues what to expect on their daily noon time show Eat Bulaga. Right now, she’s having a great vacation with her girlfriends in Thailand.

5. Lea Salonga - Her current tweet is about her ability to hack iPhones. I also like the tweet exchanges she had with Jed Maddela regarding the latter’s surprise birthday celebration at ASAP. Nakakaaliw lang kasi I saw how surprised Jed really was. They were tweeting before that only to find out later, Lea’s the surprise guest who sang duet with him.

6. Jed Maddela - He keeps his fans updated where he is through his tweets. He twitted his disappointment for not being able to join the Star Magic’s concert recently due to schedule and visa problems. Right now he’s in LA as he just judged an international singing competition. He’s currently shopping madly for Superman stuffs daw.

7. Jim Paredes - I love reading all his sensible quotes about life.

8. KC Concepcion - She doesn’t tweet much. She’s too busy with so many projects like tapings and mall shows.

9. Bianca Gonzales - I love reading her tweets about her trip and observations in Korea.
