Pack Lightly.

October 8th, 2009

December for us has always been a travel month. Every year, we troop to the City of Pines up north where we feel the cool breeze of the city to unwind, relax and basically enjoy the Christmas holidays with the whole family. December is just two months away so as early as now, I am already anticipating and planning for this trip.

First, I shopped a few Old Navy 2T sweat shirts for the little one since he’ll be needing them up there. I have to keep him warm since he’s prone to getting colds under cold weather. Second, I have started browsing Multiply sites and I’ll be placing my orders soon for Asher’s Avent Tempo Nurser and Liners. I have a tendency to over pack Asher’s things for a trip and this disposable liners will definitely limit our baggage. With such, we won’t have to bring his sterilizer and his feeding bottles.

Speaking of packing things for a trip, I do really need to remind myself that: “the number-one rule in packing for a trip, unless the services of a Moving Company is hired to carry all the stuffs, is to pack lightly.” Okay got that…but I’m still clueless how to do it especially that we’re traveling with a toddler. I’m too afraid to run out of his stuffs that is why I always allot a lot of extras.

Go Solo.

September 10th, 2009

There comes a point in our lives when we want to be alone and escape the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. Often times caused by stress, we yearn to go some place where there is solace to unwind and breathe in. For some, they travel alone and enjoy by themselves singles holidays.

Sometimes, there are those who loves to travel out of the blue and don’t mind if they can’t persuade anyone else to go with them, so they just plan for single holidays. These are the jet-setters who don’t mind traveling alone as they sign up for tours geared to the singles holidays market. Actually, SINGLES HOLIDAYS don’t mean that you tour all by yourself. There are tour operators now who create package tours where a group of single travellers can go on trips, cruises and holiday activities all together. One advantage of such tour packages is that a tourist does not have to pay a single supplement fee on a hotel room or on the lodging. Mostly, tour packages are geared towards either couples travelling together or for families. Have you noticed that for hotels, couple or group rates appear cheaper compared to a solo rate? But for single holidays type of tour, travelers get to enjoy all the things that couples and groups are offered at less inexpensive rates. Another advantage is meeting new friends of all ages and lifestyles while discovering new places. There are several online tour operators who offer various single holidays packages nowadays. It’s great because it’s so easy now to compare and book as compared before when you have to personally go and book at travel agencies. In fact, aside from the ease of booking, online rates are also cheaper.

For UK, America, Europe and Asia Singles Holidays tour packages, check out the latest and tempting offers at JustYou.co.uk. Solo Holidays are their expertise so head on to their site now and book your next vacation.

Climb Every Mountain.

December 17th, 2008

Nope, I’m not pertaining to Sound of Music’s soundtrack. One of the things that I’ve long been wanting to try is to mountain climb. A have an online friend who has this as a hobby and I must say that her adventure pictures makes me envious and entices me to really give this venture a try. I’m not really acrophobic so slopes and summits are just easy to deal with. The only problem perhaps is that I’m not that fit for long and extended walks or climb for this matter. I do easily get tired. But probably, this could actually address my health concern as this is a great form of exercise. I just have to borrow mountaineering Outdoor Gears from my friend or perhaps, take advantage of the great North Face Sale at MountainGear.com. I’m checking out North Face now and I’m pleased to see that they have a promo where you get your $25 back when you purchase $125 worth of their products. The $25 rebate will come in a form of gift certificate for usage on 2009. Sometimes, I’m discouraged to shop online because of merchants’ steep shipping costs but with North Face, they can ship for free. I’m browsing their catalog now and I would like to have this hoodie. It’s just reasonably priced at $38.97 (Original: $64.95). That’s a lot of savings, isn’t it?

It’s even perfect for the cool breeze of Baguio. Which reminds me I have yet to pack our bags for our Baguio trip this Sunday.

Ola Amiga.

December 3rd, 2008

“Ola Amiga, Barcelona hoteles son los mejores!”

That’s what my wanderlust friend of mine emailed me this morning. I really envy her for she has almost been to the most wonderful places here on Earth in the last five years. She has step foot already in five continents all in all and she’s aiming to get to all seven by the year 2010. Well, lucky her for having the resources and means. Travelling is her passion so she’s really unstoppable whenever a travel opportunity comes up. Actually, her friendster page is one of my favorite online hangouts to see all her travel pictures. And so with such, it seems that I’m travelling the world too with her.

Right now she’s in Spain travelling with her cousin and an aunt. I translated via Google her email greetings and I found out that it means: “Hello friend, Barcelona hotels are the best!”. They’re currently staying in an infamous Las Ramblas Hoteles, of which, she heard about it through Hotelsespanol (a Spanish site for last minute deals and pre-booked discounts for Barcelona travels). Yes, she has an extreme fixation on hotels that she has a strict standards whether a certain hotel is indeed rated accordingly (like a five or four stars, etc). In her email, she also attached pictures of their tour in other Spain destinations like the La Sagrada Familia Church, Montjuïc Park and Barceloneta Beach. I am expecting some more updates from her in the days to come because they’ll also be heading to Madrid (the gateway to Spain) in a day or two. I wonder how she’ll find Madrid Hoteles next.

Field Trip On Wednesday.

October 26th, 2008

We’ll be having a family affair this coming Wednesday. My in-laws, who own a pre-school, scheduled the annual educational excursion of the kids on this day. And yearly, the whole family gets to join for free. This year, we’ll be heading to Rizal to visit the Avilon Zoo in Rodriguez (yay! lots of camera critters entries coming up!) and 9 Waves Ciudad Christhia Resort in San Mateo for a few hours of swimming and relaxing. MIL has everything covered already including the reservation of the destinations and of the bus rentals.

I think there will be 3 buses to accommodate all of the pre-schoolers and their companions. Hope this year the buses are better. The preggy me wasn’t so comfortable last year with the unreclinable seats. If only there’s a bus rental company here similar to those New York Bus Charter, then the trip would be pretty relaxing.

In New York, trips and excursions are made more enjoyable because of reliable bus charters such as those at NycBusCharters.com. A leader in the transportation industry for over 20 years, they are trusted for their clean and well maintained vehicles and on time service. Their drivers are safe, courteous, experienced and they only utilize luxurious, quality vehicles. All their deluxe motor coaches are climate controlled and even include lavatory, video and audio capabilities, PA systems, and reclining seats. So should you need transportation for your group to conventions, trade shows, amusement parks, day trips, tailored custom tours, hotels or transfers between airports, only NYC Bus Charters can provide the ultimate road experience in New York.

And so anyway back to the field trip Wednesday, we’re all pretty excited as this would be an unwinding moment for everyone. This is Asher’s second time to swim if ever but I’m still monitoring him since he seems has colds at the moment. Hope he’ll be better soon.
