Wooden toys go back as far as ancient Greek and Roman civilization with archeologists digging up wooden toys that are shaped like horses dolls and chariots indicating how simple and uncomplicated life was back then. They had also unearthed in Egypt what looked like the wooden version of checkers dating back 4000 years. The first puzzle invented in fact was made of wood and it was invented by John Spilsbury in 1760. A mapmaker by profession Spilsbury glued cut up pieces of a map onto a wooden board with the intention of putting them back together in the soonest possible time.
Older children are great at playing pretend. A great toy for kids of this age are dress up clothes. Little girls like to dress up as their favorite princess and pretend they are going to marry a handsome prince. Little Adventures has a great line of princess dress up costumes from Sleeping Beauty to Belle and best of all they are machine washable and comfortable to wear and wont itch your child. Little boys usually like to dress up as race car drivers or superheroes. Some may like to dress up like Harry Potter a wizard or a prince. Make sure you find a good quality costume that wont fall apart. Plastic costumes are out they fall apart or break after one or two wears.
All of our marble rollers or as some call them marble runs are handmade in a nearby Amish shop in Indiana. They come natural or we can put a clear finish on them and they all come with a handmade bag of marbles except the wooden ball roller which comes with 12 balls.
